Here’s some more quick sketches of Zuko and Azula’s crazy roadtrip adventures AKA “Azula’s Life Changing Field Trip with Zuko” continued from this.

This is why I shouldn’t write The Search: it would end up involving mommy maps, stupid roadblocks, Big Foot, witty banter, lots of arguments, bad pitstops, painfully awkward moments, and some random guys trying to assassinate Fire Nation royalty throughout the whole thing so then Zuko and Azula could save each other and then learn how to work together as a super badass brother-sister team. It would be sappy and cliche and cheesy but also super awesome.

“Oh, come on, Azula. Run with the idea for a second. We’re just gonna walk over to Uncle’s teashop. Your doctor said this would be a good idea to…’rebuild bridges, create a newfound respect for each other, learn to have a fun, relatable connection’ uh…bond—something about…family? Yeah, family. And, and uh…stuff like that.”

“…’and stuff like that?’ Really Zuzu, did I ever tell you? You are quite the gifted speaker. So eloquent. So moving. So undeniably persuasive. You have most definitely convinced me that this day is, in fact, not going to be an unbearable trek through Ba Sing Se as you attempt to bond with me over a bowl of noodles, awkwardly fumbling through unintelligible small talk—and I know you Zuzu, I know. You will attempt to discuss the weather, or ask if I did anything different with my hair, or comment on my new outfit, or some other…stuff like that.”

Haha. Okay. Backstory. So, like…several years ago I apparently wrote the beginning of a fire siblings fanfiction and I just found it again when I was looking through some files and I do not remember writing this at all. The above is some extracted dialogue (this was the only vaguely passable bit. OTL)

Man, The Search better have some good sibling banter. The leaked pages showed some promise, I think.

I know it’s probably not gonna be that kind of comic, but I want ALL sorts of road trip shenanigans to happen to the royal fire siblings on their search for their mumsy, haha. c: This is literally the comic I’ve been waiting on for YEARS, not for Zuko’s mom, but for closure on Zuko and Azula’s sibling relationship.

I was looking through one of my sketchbooks from last year and found an unfinished sketch of Zuko and Azula. I liked where it was going so I thought I might finish it as a warm up before moving on to my commissions.

For the record, Azula is actually my favorite Avatar character. Super close second is Toph. :>

This scan is a bit different from the actual pencil sketch in terms of contrast and value, but this is more or less what it looks like. I had a lot of fun doing this one! c:

honestly, I don’t know how good Toph would be at comforting a daughter with a broken heart but I couldn’t help myself. I’m sure after she and Lin hugged it out, Toph would go kick Tenzin’s ass, haha.
