Last drawing of 2011! The year started off rough for me, but the last half of it was bangin’. c: All in all, I met one of the most insightful and helpful teachers ever, took a lot of awesome classes, finally got a chance to explore NYC beyond my school area, went to my first MOCCA Fest, met Jillian Tamaki, Neil Gaiman, and Lauren Lopez, officially left the teen years behind, did my first artist alley at a convention, watched “the end of an era” unfold on the big screen dressed in full Hogwarts regalia, completed my first internship at AAIFF’11, discovered the most productive way to use tumblr(!!!), went to my first “college party,” wrote my first two short stories, wrote my first one-act play, watched The Book of Mormon twice and revived my love of musical theatre, finally took advantage of student rush tickets, saw How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Sister Act, Anything Goes, Godspell, Bonnie and Clyde, and An Evening with Patti Lupone & Mandy Patinkin on Broadway, gave a lot of doodles to a lot of Broadway performers, watched a lot of excellent films (stand outs: Confessions, My Wedding and Other Secrets, How to Train Your Dragon, Easy A, When Hainan Meets Teochew), read a lot of excellent books (stand outs: Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, Fated by S.G. Browne, We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver), listened to a lot of excellent cast recordings for the first time (standouts: The Book of Mormon, The Last 5 Years, Little Shop of Horrors), started some of the greatest friendships I will ever have, strengthened some of the greatest friendships I will ever have, had a lot of fantastic conversations ranging from the most ridiculously hilarious to the most refreshingly thought-provoking, cut down a bit on that procrastination problem, made a whole bunch of mistakes, had a mini-existential crisis, and drew a mountain of crappy things but learned more about art and life than I ever have in my entire 20 years of existence. c: Good show. Bring on 2012, bitches! |
