Hey guys! While my amazing friends are going to be off graduating without me, I’m going to be selling my artwork at Anime Boston’s Artist Alley this weekend! Come find me at table 76a! I’ll have some prints, postcards and buttons, and I’ll be taking on the spot commissions!

I’m also extremely excited to be selling limited copies of me and Janet’s first ever zine That’s So SUGOI!, a compilation of 18 different artists mashing up their favorite western cartoons with anime. Check out our zine tag to see some of the fabulous work featured in it!

Yes! Just to clarify, I will be selling the HoO buttons online to anyone who’s interested. I won’t be able to set that up until around the middle of June, so just watch out for another post specifically about how to order!

Also, I’m thinking of drawing a few other characters to add to the set. Grover for sure. Luke maybe. Any other suggestions?

Hey, thanks! That’s so nice! I’m actually pretty new to storyboarding myself and primarily self-taught. I’m not sure I’m the right person to ask for general tips, but if you have a specific question I might be able to help. In the meantime, if you wanna learn more about storyboarding you should definitely check out these awesome resources:

Temple of the Seven Golden Camels - a blog by Disney storyboard artist Mark Kennedy packed with a whole bunch of articles about image composition, character acting, and much more.
Rad How To - a blog by Dreamworks storyboard artist Rad Sechrist where he posts up tutorials and guides for drawing the body and other awesome stuff.
Framed Ink by Marcos Mateu-Mestre - Legitimately, the best book I’ve ever read on scene composition and how to effectively use it to tell a story and create a mood. This is written by the guy who was responsible for a lot of the layouts in Dreamworks’ movie Prince of Egypt (which, if you haven’t seen, is an absolutely gorgeous film.)
Storyboard Secrets - Video tutorials by Spongebob storyboard artist Sherm Cohen. I think this video is particularly helpful to watch! It was really helpful to me when I was making my Mark of Athena animatic.

Wisdom’s daughter walks alone.

A little animatic I did for a class final. (It went over really well, by the way! :D) I want to practice storyboarding and composition variation over the summer, so I’m planning to do most of Annabeth’s search for Athena Parthenos (and maybe the very end…) as a side project.

I took some artistic liberties with the text; mostly I just really liked the idea of the Mark of Athena actually flying.

If you haven’t heard yet, my awesome friend Janet and I are putting together a little nerd zine called “That’s So Sugoi!” It’s basically a compilation of about 15 super talented artists mashing up their favorite childhood cartoons and anime. The zine’s gonna be sold at Anime Boston and Anime Next, so if you’re going to either of those definitely stop by and take a look!

Here’s one of the pieces I contributed! I feel like this show is kind of obscure at this point, but I absolutely love Ranma ½. It’s already pretty wacky, so I thought it would be appropriate to mash it up with the wackiness of old school 1930s cartoons!
